New pumper/tanker is ordered and in the production process

New truck designed with operational capabilities and fiscal responsibility in mind.

Once the approval was given by the trustees of Fillmore and Laketown Townships, bid specifications were sent out to multiple vendors. Spencer Manufacturing in South Haven was chosen to build the truck. This quick action and price-lock protected the department and its residents from quarterly price increases that are affecting many departments. Other pumper/tankers are currently being built for over $750,000. The Freightliner pumper/tanker being built for Graafschap Fire Department will cost $578,461 plus some loose firefighting equipment costs with the total to not exceed $600,000. According to Fire Chief Doug DenBleyker, “This apparatus will serve the residents for many years to come and will increase our water hauling capability to non-hydranted areas.”
