Grant awarded for new equipment

The Graafschap Fire Department has been awarded a grant to purchase a new piece of equipment. The details are included in a letter from Chief DenBleyker to the Graafschap Fire Board and the two townships.

Good morning Fire Board and Fillmore and Laketown Trustees,

Graafschap Fire has been awarded a grant for $14,572.80 for a Hurst Edraulic Combi Tool. This tool is modeled after the original “Jaws of Life” and is planned to be placed on the new pumper/tanker when it is delivered this coming fall. The edraulic combi tool will replace a set of extrication tools that are over 40 years old, and this early purchase will give the department time to train on the new equipment prior to putting the truck into service.

This project is part of Graafschap Fire Departments long term plan of updating dated equipment that is lighter and more ergonomically friendly.

Thank you to Capt. Grumney who took the lead on this grant application, and special thanks to the Auto Club Group Foundation, which is a foundation created by AAA that is funding this grant.
