Graafschap Fire Board meets to discuss budget and other topics.

Fire board members from Fillmore and Laketown Townships met this morning at the firehouse to be introduced to the 2025-2026 budget prepared by Chief Doug DenBleyker. First order of business was to elect Jim Johnson as the new chairperson. Next, the minutes from the previous meeting on November 14, 2024 were approved. Both documents are seen below.

After some discussion, the Fire Board passed the proposed budget as it was presented. The budget now goes back to each respective township for a vote from their entire board of trustees. The percentages used to determine the costs each township are responsible for, is a formula that has been in use since 1999.

The next Graafschap Fire Board meeting is scheduled for March 6th, 2025 at 8 a.m. The firehouse is located at 4534 60th st. The meeting is open to the public.
