Apparatus

Based on a county-wide numbering system, all Graafschap Fire Department vehicles start with the number seven (7), followed by the unit type. The 10’s are Engines, the 20’s are Trailer’s, 30’s are Pickup/Grass Trucks, 40’s are Tanker/Tenders, 50’s are Ladders, 60’s are Rescues, and 70’s are Staff/Medical response cars.

Engine 712

Engine 712 is a 2017 Rosenbauer, which carries 750 gallons of water. Due to its smaller footprint and 4-wheel drive capabilities, it can access most of our rural structures which have elevated and/or difficult driveways. It is also licensed as a BLS medical response vehicle.    

Pumper/Tanker 740

Pumper/Tanker is a 2025 Spencer. It can be a “first-out” unit due to the 1500 GPM and 3,000 gallons of water that it carries. Depending on the situation, it can be used to haul water to fire scenes with no hydrants or respond first if the situation calls for a great deal of water immediately.

Pumper/Tanker 741

Tanker 741 is a 1994 Spencer that hauls 3,500 gallons of water. For non-hydrant areas, it has a portable dump tank that can empty its load, then go for more at the nearest water source.

Ladder 751

Ladder 751 is a 1997 Sutphen Platform. It carries 141’ of ground ladders, primarily used for 2nd/3rd story access to buildings. The 100’ tower platform is primarily used to reach across front yards to gain access to roof for ventilation and fire suppression. It also carries a full complement of rope rescue equipment for high and low angle events.

Grass Truck 733

Grass 733 is a 4wd 1984 Chevrolet 1 ¼ ton, ex-military truck used for fighting wildfires off-road. It was military surplus, given to the State of Michigan, and is on a semi-permanent loan under the care of GFD.

Jeep 731

Jeep 731 is a 1954 Willys ex-military truck used for fighting wildfires off-road. It was military surplus, given to the State of Michigan, and is on a semi-permanent loan under the care of GFD.

Utility 735

Utility 735 is a 4wd, 2019 Ford F-250. It is used to pull a rescue trailer and any other task that we need a pickup truck. It also transports members to scenes when a bigger truck is not warranted. It is also licensed as a BLS medical response vehicle. 

Gator 761

This dual-purpose John Deere UTV is used to fight wildfires and transport members to remote areas to render EMS to patients. It will also transport a patient back out of remote areas to an ALS ambulance.

771

771 is a 2019 Ford Explorer is a duty officer car. Its main purpose is to transport the night-time duty officer to any call received at night or on the weekends. It is also licensed as a BLS medical response vehicle.            

772

772 is a 2020 Ford Explorer, assigned to the Fire Chief. It’s main purpose is to transport the Chief to any call received 24/7. It is also licensed as a BLS medical response vehicle.
