Hamilton Cub Scouts visit the fire station and test physics projects

Cub Scout Troop #3033 from Hamilton dropped in to the fire station on Thursday. They needed some elevation for a final test a project they have been working on. Will an egg survive a fall from a high place and not break?

Eggs were handed out by a parent volunteer and after a few finishing touches in the bay, the troops moved out to the front ramp.

Due to safety rules, only Captain Tom Dykstra went airborne with the hard work and engineering of the scouts.

From a height of approximately 50 feet, Capt. Tom released the devices one at a time. About 70% of the eggs survived the plummet.

Regardless of the outcome, these scouts and their parents enjoyed working on their project together. Perhaps this event will cultivate one of these kids to be an engineer or astronaut! Graafschap Fire Department was happy to help our community and possibly the next generation of leaders.
